in 1991, the outta the way cafe was recognized by county executive Neal Potter as the first restaurant in montgomery county to initiate a recycling program. in 2005 we were again honored by the montgomery county SORT program for recycling over 67% of our solid waste and 100% of our cooking oil. we've also been cooking in non-trans fat oils (canola and soy) for 17 years. how cool is that?
i wonder if that would officially makes us montgomery county's first trans-fat free zone?
in any event, we've been "green" for a very long time, and we all think it's a very good "thing". right now we're looking at alternative power sources. if anybody out there knows anything about wind or solar, or any other eco-efficiencies, we'd appreciate a head's up on the "Contact The Cafe" comment page.
thanks! chip, fred, brian and the outta the way staff
