WTOP held a "Best of Wings" poll in the DC area this week and while we normally we don't push these types of polls, we were tired of people voting for lousy wings, so we networked out to everyone to vote for the Outta The Way's Wings!!
The Outta The Way's Wings are the best, and we felt it was time for all of you to let the poor, deprived and confused wing lovers of America to share the love!!
Now with all due respect for WTOP and their polling system, there was a feeling that we somehow rigged the voting in our favor and cheated. The headline of their Friday Article was:
Shame, shame, shame: Chicken wing places fix voting
So let me say this:
First: To WTOP, if there was any unfair manipulation of your poll, we do apologize. We used Facebook, Fishbowl and e-mail to get the word out to vote for us. Beyond that we don't know diddley about html or coding or computers. We know hospitality, good food and good 'tude!
Second: We finished second to Hooters with 113,561 votes = 31 percent.
They had 195,445 votes = 53 percent.
Third: Everyone else that was in the top ten is a chain or has more than one store. We are a single independent.
Fourth: Once we asked our fans to vote, they voted. If one of our fans pumped up our numbers, well it's pretty cool considering they did almost as good a job as Hooters and they have hundreds of stores.
Fifth: Anyone who knows Brian, Fred and I knows that we have the technical skills of a peanut, and that rigging anything beyond voting more than once for ourselves is HI-TECH to us :).
So in the spirit of good fun and wing lovers everywhere, let's give a cheer for all of the folks who voted and an invitation to drop by the Outta the Way for some wings and good cheer, especially the staff from WTOP.
